It looks as if Port Douglas may be affected by Cyclone Larry headed towards the North Queensland coast so Neil and I decide to go inland. Unfortunately, the only road out puts us in the path of the storm. We have to wait out the worst in a grotty motel in Mount Surprise (!) the kids watch dvds and enjoy eating at the roadhouse which is decorated with colour pictures of crocs slit open revealing human remains!! When we finally get home past downed trees and powerlines, (and wild dingo and kangaroo), we find Port Douglas was barely touched!!
