We fly into Colombo and as it is late we stay overnight and travel down to Galle on the south of the island the next day. The trip is pretty hair-raising stuff given that the rule seems to be that the biggest vehicles own the road and everyone else should just get out of the way. That and a lot of hooting! Galle was badly hit by the Tsunami and in contrast to Thailand, it is still in a bad way. The house we are staying in is about a 5 minute tuk tuk ride from the coast with a beautiful veranda and an even more stunning garden full of coconuts and monkeys.
